Week 11

Well on the way for the training, but am i getting better? I just don’t know.

So this week, had the Bank Holiday Monday off, as I was coming back from Pembs. So went out on Tues and took the hilly route – which is so knackering, but really the right thing to do – unfortunately it is not quite long enough, so I will have to extend the course a little, which shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Went down the pool on Weds, I was a little late, and got there about 7:00, and it was quite quiet, then after 5 minutes some fat twat came in and started splashing about between me and the guy swimming next to me. Then about 3 mins after that another bloke pitched up, and it was people everywhere, so I got out, after doing just 11 mins… By the time I had a shower the fat rubbish swimmer (not me) had got out anyway. Crap day.

Thurs – had a lie in for some reason, just tired perhaps? But took to the bike around ten and went for a hilly 12 mile run. It was cold, and so windy – but luckily the wind was from the East, so out was hard, but reasonably sheltered, back was okay. It actually started to snow whilst I was out and it was cold man.

Friday was a swim, a good one this time. Got there slightly earlier, but it was reasonably quiet. Did 80 lengths, which is approx: 1440 meters, so I should have done another three lengths for the 1.5K. But it was okay, I only stopped twice, to re-adjust the nose clip – I think that might cause me problems on the real day. Took me about 40 minutes, which is not bad, although the pool is a different proposition to the sea – from one point of view it might be better in the sea because you don’t have to turn around all the time – the bad side is that there will be 250 people trying to kick my face off…

Sunday was a brick session. Sian was away, and I was up early and got on me bike with tights and shorts and headed off for an easy run past the brewery. Kept up a 15 mile an hour average around and back home – 8 miles and 30 mins later I arrived, where I took just over a minute to change into running shoes, and I was off for a four mile run. Wobbly legs, but not too bad, the worse things is being so out of breath for the first mile. Wasn’t fast and about 40 mins later I was home. Felt good.

Run: about 8 miles

Swim: about 2K

Cycle: about 20 miles

Beers: 6 pints of Stella, 2 cans.
